Satyanarayana Puja is done in veneration to Lord Vishnu
. He is referred as Narayana
as he is the supreme Purusha in Hindu texts. Satyanarayana Puja is performed in most parts of the country. This puja is done on various occasions
like house warming ceremony, for Suddhi in house etc. People around the country have strong faith in this puja and they conduct this puja with great devotion to seek blessings of Lord Narayana.
SIGNIFICANCE & PURPOSE: Lord Vishnu is considered as the personification of truth in the form of Narayana. Narayana means Supreme Being and Satyanarayana puja is considered as very auspicious for all occasions. Puja should be done mostly in the evening, however morning also it can be conducted. People do this puja to ward of the evil from their house, house warming ceremony and any special occasion in their family.
Puja VIDHAN (PROCEDURE): The puja begins with prayer to Lord Ganesha as it is believed that he will remove all obstacles that may be caused due to mistakes during the puja. The prayer also involves prayer to Navagrah- the nine planets. The rest of the puja involves prayer to Satyanarayana. The story of the puja is heard by all who are partaking and those who are observing the puja. At the end there is an Aarti and a small havan which consists of lighting a small fire near the puja place.
